If you are a liberal thinker, I'm preaching to the choir...but if you are conservative, please stick around for another paragraph or two and learn that we may not be so many miles apart as you may think.
I believe that liberals are not necessarily interested in massive government giveaway programs, unbridled redistribution of wealth, or many other things that certain people interested in promoting divisiveness would like you to believe. I clearly do not speak for everyone, but I'd like to list a few things that seem somewhat evident.
- Everyone should work as best they can for what they receive.
- Capitalism and corporations can and do work for the benefit of people and humanity.
- Not always, and not all of them.
- There are just as many jobs and just as much potential for profit in working for humane ends as there is in working purely for profit.
- I grew up in farming country and respect that segment of society immensely, but I believe they are being financially pushed into chemical and patented seed usage beyond their ability to resist.
- Most corporations are not inherently evil, but decent individuals have little choice but to pursue profit well if they want to keep their jobs.
- Historically, the wealthy have proven again and again that they will literally stop at nothing to retain their position and power, often acting well outside our range of 'normal'.
- Finally, changing our national emphasis from profit to humanitarianism would drastically reduce the number of enemies we seem to create for ourselves.
'Nuff said....for now.
